Hiring a Social Media administrator

I had a blog a while back “Hiring a Social Media Strategist” that outlined what to consider when doing so. This post is specific to maintaining the SMRS and what to look for when hiring Social Media administrator.

Once you’ve built your Social Media Recruiting Strategy (SMRS), how do you plan to Maintain, Monitor, Reuse, Recycle, Repeat? What resources do you have that will be dedicated to the Social Media Recruiting strategy?

It is important that whoever is responsible to administer your SMRS is passionate, polished and possesses the Social Media and conversation skills to engage, re-act and represent your organization. When done effectively, these skills will be the drivers that will Identify, Pool, Engage and Nurture your community.

Your SMRS administrator must be active in the conversations, listening to the community and engaging with the candidates, openly and appropriately, manage the feedback and responses effectively to be successful in developing your SMRS. Don’t forget your overall SMRS goals where too “Develop voice of the brand”.

A good Social Media administrator will be able to manage “CONTENT”. I see SMRS content in 2 buckets,… Content “Plan” and Content “Source”. Content Plan takes internal content that represents brand, culture, social responsibility and overall corporate message and places that content into an editorial calendar that spreads, repeats and shares the content over a fixed period of time (I.e. week, month, quarter, even year). Content Source is any content that is timely, changing and relevant to your overall brand. These content sources can be individuals or groups with a voice, insight and clout to promote or represent your industry and brand. The SMR administrator must constantly search for new, fresh sources of content for your SMRS.

You may also decide to work with an external partner or consultancy over a period of time, while looking at what other companies have done or is currently doing.

Lots to think about before jumping into the space.
